C’è chi lo coltiva per la straordinaria varietà della morfologia dei culmi o delle foglie, chi per la dolcezza dei germogli commestibili a primavera, chi lo utilizza per costruire qualsiasi cosa o intrecciare le sue fibre, chi infine per suonare dolci melodie accordando un flauto raffinato da una semplice canna.

	EBS Belgium Europäische Bambusgesellschaft Belgien European Bamboo Society Belgium. The Belgian society is the youngest constituent of EBS, and was formed in August 1992, when gardeners, nurserymen and representatives of our botanical gardens met and decided that we should have a national society. The Belgian national bamboo collection, and the official home of our society, is at Bokrijk Aboretum, where we will also establish a documentation centre next year. 	EBS Great Britain Europäische Bambusgesellschaft Grossbritanien European Bamboo Society Great Britain. The Society was formed by Michael Hirsh in 1985, and was called The Bamboo Network. It was amalgamated with other European societies in 1986, and renamed The European Bamboo Network in order to differentiate it from the Australian Bamboo Network. In 1989, the European Bamboo Network reverted to its former regional basis, and the British society was renamed The Bamboo Society (EBS Great Britain).
